In January 2009, we announced the migration from Connections Online 3.2 to 4.0. Since that announcement, we have completed a number of upgrades and are scheduling more.  In fact, between new users and migrations, the number of users has doubled in the past four months.  Our clients are very happy with the new features and functionality.

If you have not already done so, and are ready to migrate to 4.0, please contact Karla Norwood at 800.395.1410.  For more information regarding what has changed with 4.0, you are welcome to join one of our Connections Online 4.0 Migration webinars. Jim Cardwell’s April Educational Webinar “No Surprises” Tom O’Shea, CEO of Aspire FCU, Speaker

In many organizations, performance appraisals are generally dreaded, but people are required to do them anyway. Aspire Federal Credit Union President and CEO, Tom O’Shea, was the speaker for our “No Surprises” webinar, which took place on Thursday, April 23, 2009, providing some interesting, best-practice insight on the following issues…

  • What is it about the performance evaluation process that makes it so challenging?
  • How do you make this experience valuable to the employee, boss and organization?
  • What key lessons can be shared?

Click here to read the complete summary of the presentation.  To listen to the recorded webinar for Tom O’Shea’s “No Surprises” appraisal presentation Click here.

General Technology Questions

1.       How do you measure up-time? On March 13th, 2009, we began using a new uptime monitoring application that allows us to share our uptime statistics with our customers.  You can see current and historical uptime statistics back to that date by going to http://go.col4.com/status.

2.       Has Connections Online achieved SAS70 certification?  We use Peak 10 data centers which are SAS 70 type II compliant.  More information can be found at http://go.col4.com/sas70

3.       What is the back-up process?  All communication with Connections Online 4.0 servers is encrypted using an AES 128-bit SSL certificate or stronger forms of encryption.  Data is backed up nightly, both on the servers and to off-site backup locations.  Off-site backups are encrypted and stored on Amazon S3 servers for maximum redundancy and availability.

4.0 Tips of the Month

We’ve recently had a number of inquiries on setting up your network for related links to work.  The relevant Connections Online Forum post is entitled: Sharing files for Related Links with Web Sharing on Windows Server 2003.  Bryan Siders has written a very detailed explanation on how to do this, including screen shots, and placed it on our Forum.  If interested, please register and view: http://www.connectionsonline.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2 76&PN=1

We’ve also had questions about the Remember Me feature on the login.  Here is the detail on using this feature:

§         The remember me option only works if, when you are done using Connections Online, you close the window without hitting the sign out link at the top of the page. If you sign out, that clears the remember me option and requires you to log in the next time you open Connections Online. To help clarify this, a confirmation message may be added that reminds the user about this when the sign out link is clicked.

§         If you have a bookmark that opens the Connections Online application, it must not link to the Login page directly (my.connectionsonline.net/Login.aspx?…;). You may link to the root of the application (my.connectionsonline.net/) or any other page in Connections Online (my.connectionsonline.net/default.aspx?i=…;), but linking to the Login page will look like it is forcing you to log in again.
